Our Mission
Opened in 2016, Hender’s serves a delightful blend of cherished family recipes and new inventive creations. Trained at The Culinary Institute of America and seasoned by years of working in her family’s Cape Cod restaurants and catering company, Owner/Operator Jessica fell deeply in love with the art of baking. Her life’s path lead her to Waterbury where she felt compelled to open a bakery and share her passion with the community.
Our Origin
Today Hender’s Bake Shop and Cafe continues to grow and sell exceptionally tasty treats to the greater Waterbury area. August 2024 we will be breaking ground for a large addition. It will expand outdoor deck seating and the kitchen area of the Bake Shop. Hender's continues to grow wholesale accounts and specializes in Holiday treats.

We offer outdoor seating during the Summer months with counter service only.
All online orders are scheduled 25minutes out. In-person, depending on how busy we are takes 10-15 minutes.
There is 15minutes parking on Winooski Street and free parking all along Main Street.

All special orders must be emailed to us at hendersbakeshop@gmail.com. We do not accept phone orders. All special orders must be submitted at least two weeks in advance.

Owner of Hender’s Bake Shop, Jess is also the Head Baker & Chef. Jessica grew up on Cape Cod working for her family restaurants and catering business. Jess has a degree in Culinary Arts from the CIA and Hospitality Management from UNLV. For fun Jess loves kayaking, skiing, Yoga and making Pottery. Jess enjoys spending time with family and getting outside on an adventure any chance she can get. Jessica's favorite Hender’s Treat is the Maple Glazed Cruller and to drink, a Regular Hot Latte with Whole Milk.

Lisa runs the Front of House here at Hender’s. Lead Barista, cashier, customer service, weekday line cook and wholesale packaging. Vermont Native, born and raised in the woods of Camels Hump in Duxbury. Lisa believes that growing up here gave her a greater appreciation of all the magic of the universe! Such as tarot cards, astrology and Reiki. Fun Fact, Lisa is a Trained Reiki Master and gains so much joy in healing others with energy. Lisa also enjoys, yoga, hiking, biking, family time and traveling! “Working at Hender’s is my perfect dream job, as I get to connect with my community and put smiles on their faces. Not to Mention all the delicious taste testing required!” Lisas Favorite Hender’s Treat is the Maple Walnut Scone paired with a Hot Maple Latte!
Lisa Lamos
The Bake Shop is named after Henderson the owners Golden Retriever. He turned 13 in 2023 and is still loving life. His favorite activities are eating treats, getting attention and diving for rocks in the river. Henderson loves all seasons but the Winter is his favorite. Hendersons favorite treats are the House made Peanut Butter Dog Treats and anything that goes on the deli slicer! Feel free to say hello if you see him outside the kitchen doors of the bake shop!
